Cannot give subsidy on petroleum products, Miftah Ismail

 


Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has said that the government cannot afford to give subsidy on petroleum products at this time.

While speaking in Naya Pakistan program of Pakistan's private TV channel Geo News, Miftah Ismail said in response to a question that on the 15th, "there is going to be no tax or levy on petroleum products."

It should be noted that the prices of petroleum products are reviewed on the 1st and 15th of every month.

Miftah Ismail said that we cannot afford to give subsidy on petroleum products, we cannot afford to lose.

Miftah Ismail said that the IMF had set a condition to arrange the first 4 billion dollars from elsewhere to lend to Pakistan.

He said that he has arranged to get 4 billion dollars from friendly countries, and will send the letter of intent to the IMF by tomorrow.
